Get rid of ants using these household items

Deter the ants from entering your home

Chalk

Chalk

Have some leftover sidewalk chalk lying around? Use them to repel ants from entering your home. Just draw a line around the entry points of your home. Ants don’t like the calcium carbonate in the chalk, so they work well as a repellant.

Flour

Flour is also a great repellant for ants. Sprinkle a line of flour wherever you find the ants coming into the house and keep them out.

Lemon Juice

If you don’t like using chemicals, try using lemons to get rid of ants. Squirt some lemon juice by your doors and window sills. Ants, as well as roaches and fleas, dislike the smell of lemons, so they make a great natural insecticide. You can also mix lemons in water to wash your floors to destroy the scent trail that the ants follow.

Cayenne or black pepper

Another deterrent for ants is cayenne pepper. If you don’t have that, use black pepper instead. Sprinkle the pepper at the source of the infestation and it will deter the ants from coming again.

Adhesive tape

Place the sticky side up of your adhesive tape and create a moat to block the ants from moving in. This will trap the ants and stop them from marching towards your countertop.

Kill the ants using these items in your home

Cinnamon

If you want a more deadly solution, use ground cinnamon and sprinkle it on the ant’s path or anthill opening. When ants breathe in cinnamon, they suffocate and die. Say good bye to them forever (or at least this summer)!

Vinegar

Another way to kill the ants is to spray a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water directly on them. Use a damp paper towel to wipe them off and throw it away.
