Oregon invention may combat forest fires

An Oregonian company claims their spray product will protect plants from sunburn, and help prevent forest fires. It costs less than $100,000 to treat 1000 acres of forest. As a comparison, it costed $4.7 million to fight the Pole Creek Fire which affected 74,509 acres (ie. it would cost $7.4 million to treat 74,000 acres of forest).
